Joe Kiefer - Artist
Joe Kiefer is a passionate artist and teacher with a goal to create art to address the human need for beauty and tranquility. This is achieved through a variety of landscapes that evoke emotion through dramatic lighting, colors, and atmospheric effects. Joe’s goal as a painter is to bring the viewer to a place of peacefulness in their mind and souls.
Joe was raised in a small northern Wisconsin town of Glidden. He learned to appreciate nature through his father and relatives who worked as lumberjacks and farmers. Joe’s grandmother encouraged his faith, strong work ethic, and love for art. He began oil painting at the age of 14. Through practice and dedication, Joe grew his art skills and passion for oil painting.
Joe began his education in the field of wildlife biology and forestry at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. During that time, he worked for the Forest Service in the Chequamegon National Forest and the Elk Reintroduction Project in Clam Lake, Wisconsin. The desire to make art became overwhelming for Joe and led him to pursue a career in art. He transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to study art and learned painting techniques to express his ideas. Joe uses a combination of traditional oil painting techniques to create a sense of realism in his artwork.
Through the tough times of life, Joe has looked to his faith, nature and art to help him find joy and positivity. Joe’s hope is his art will transcend the viewer to a place of calmness, bringing peacefulness to their mind and souls. These qualities make Joe’s art sought after by art collectors and enjoyed by thousands of people across the world.
